Happy New Year's Eve to everyone! Today is the tenth and final day of my Best of 2012 series.
Todays image is of Quandary Peak located outside of Breckenridge, CO. On this frigid winter day, winds howled over the 14,000+ foot summit and kicked up snow. The end result of this is a scene where you cannot tell where the clouds ended and the snow began.
I knew immediately that this photo was going to end up as a black and white shot. It came out better than I had even imagined.
Call me crazy, but I think it came out pretty well.
So that's it... the ten (and really eleven) best images I produced in 2012.
I hope you have enjoyed this look back. If you have comments (good or bad) please send them to me via Twitter or Facebook.
Have a very happy and safe New Year's celebration. 2012 was a great year. 2013 will be even better!
Cheers!

This is the ninth day in my countdown to my best images of 2012…
Today's post is of an incredible Lake Dillon sunset at the tail end of peak fall conditions in Summit County, CO.
As the sun dropped behind Buffalo Mountain, the sky ignited with color that almost matched that of the lone aspen tree in the foreground. Almost as quickly as the colors had appeared, they were gone.
I was very lucky to have been there for this unbelievable scene.
Monday will mark the last in the Best of 2012 series. Be sure to tune in then to see what made the top of my Best Of list!

This is the eighth day in my countdown to my best images of 2012…
Today's post is of Dream Lake nestled above Bear Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. On this frigid late fall afternoon winds were sending the clouds over the Continental Divide at a tremendous rate. It made for some amazing clouds. Dream Lake is magical throughout the year. I feel very fortunate to have been there on one of those days where mother nature showed off her magic.
We are almost through the best images of 2012. Tune in tomorrow for the next in the Best Of series. The best image of 2012 will be revealed on New Year's Eve!
Enjoy!

This is the seventh day in my countdown to my best images of 2012…
Today's post is of Rocky Mountain National Park in late fall. This image is of the sun setting in the part with the aid of the Fern Lake Fire. As a result of the fire, the sun set was simply unreal. As the sun was descending, I was frontage enough to be able to snap a several images of the clouds.
The fire in the park was unfortunate. But, it made for some unreal sunsets.
Tune in tomorrow for the next in the Best Of series. The best image of 2012 will be revealed on New Years Eve!
Enjoy!

This is the sixth day in my countdown to my best images of 2012…
Today's post is of Glenwood Canyon near Glenwood Springs, CO. This part of Colorado has always been a magical place for me. On this particular summer morning, the light was just right in the canyon to illuminate the rocks, the clouds, and the Colorado river that has carved the canyon over time.
This was not the photo I was looking for, but something about the sheer wonder that the river has carved this magical spot over time really struck me. I was fortunate enough to find it while the light was still good.
Tune in on Wednesday (I'm taking Christmas off) for the next in the Best Of series. The best image of 2012 will be revealed on New Years Eve!
Enjoy!

This is the fifth day in my countdown to my best images of 2012…
Today's post is of High Shoals Creek located in the mountains of northern Georgia. For this photo, I placed myself in the middle of the river, thigh deep in the water and was fortunate enough to get this shot.
It was a lucky find and a magical place to photograph.
Tune in on Monday for the continuation of the Best Of series. The best image of 2012 will be revealed on New Years Eve!
Enjoy!

This is the fourth day in my countdown to my best images of 2012…
Today's post is of Brainard Lake near the town of Ward, CO. This photo was made during a sunrise in late July. This area of the Colorado high country has special meaning to me as I attended camp around there as a child. As luck would have it, I got to whiteness quite a sunning sunrise. Add to that, I was able to spend it with a very dear friend. Double bonus!
Tune in tomorrow, and all of days leading up to New Years Eve for the rest. Enjoy!

This is the third day in my countdown to my best images of 2012…
Today's post is of the Spouting Rock waterfall above Hanging Lake in Glenwood Canyon near Glenwood Springs, CO. Dead Horse Creek flows over the falls and will flow into Hanging Lake. From there, it will travel ~1000 vertical feet and meet up with the Colorado River below.
Spouting Rock is the lesser of the two sights to see when you hike to Hanging Lake. That said, I still think it is an amazing place to sit and ponder life.
Tune in tomorrow, and all the way up through New Years Eve for the rest. Enjoy!

This is the second day in my countdown to my best images of 2012…
Today's post is a photo from the top of Mt. Evans outside Evergreen, CO. This mother and baby shot was made at nearly 14, 200 feet above sea level.
The moment was amazing to whiteness. I am lucky I was also able to capture it.
Tune in tomorrow, and all the way up through New Years Eve for the rest. Enjoy!

Today begins my Best of 2012 series. This will highlight my 10 best images of 2012.
To start things off… I had a hard time picking between these two. So I am posting them both. I promise that the other 9 of my Best of 2012 series will be individual images. Consider this one a bonus!
Both of these images were made on Ute Pass outside Silverthorne, CO this summer.
Tune in tomorrow, and all the way up through New Years Eve for the rest. Enjoy!
